With simple knit and purl stitches, a peace sign is slowly taking shape – the international symbol for an immeasurably valuable condition which to promote, restore and keep is one of the most crucial tasks of humankind. In this spirit, I chose to make this a free pattern!
These socks are ideal for everyone who enjoys a simple but engaging knit or would like to let pictures appear on their socks but is not comfortable knitting colourwork (yet). Since the symbol is created only through the texture of alternating knits and purls, it does not stand out as strongly as colourwork would. Rather, it appears in a more subtle form – which is the reason for the name of this design: Hint of Peace Socks. A variation of the classic ribbed cuff, delicate stripes and a slip stitch heel add interest to this relaxing knit. This pattern is a homage to the soothing power of knitting which, with its gentle repetitive movements and slow progress, can help us find inner peace.
