Ginkgo Biloba accessory set – 2 knitting patterns

Knit yourself a cozy floral accessory set! The Ginkgo Biloba Hat and the Ginkgo Biloba Mitts are sister designs and match perfectly. Both are inspired by the unique leaf shape of the ginkgo tree (Ginkgo biloba). The folded brim of the hat as well as the cuff, upper hand and thumb of the mitts feature a rib pattern that is reminiscent of the bifurcated leaf. What's particularly handy: Both can be knit using the same yarn! For the mitts, you need fingering-weight yarn, and fingering yarn held double is most likely to give you a DK weight – which is ideal for the hat.

This accessory set keeps you (and your loved ones) extra cozy during the cold season. Its nature-inspired pattern wants to make you dream of the fresh green leaves of spring while they are still resting in their buds, preparing to flourish.

Please note: For this set, unfortunately, the Ravelry integration only works for one of the two patterns, the Ginkgo Biloba Hat, for technical reasons.

Sizes

• hat: (XS; S; M; L), for a head circumference of (50–53; 53–56; 56–60; 60–64) cm / (20–21; 21–22; 22–23.5; 23.5–25.25)”, corresponding to (older child / teenager; adult small; adult medium; adult large)
• mitts: 5 sizes, to fit a hand circumference of: (17; 18.5) (20; 21.5; 23) cm / (6.75; 7.25) (7.75; 8.5; 9)" (corresponds to teenager to large adult size)

Recommended yarn:

• either fingering / light fingering-weight yarn for both patterns, held double for the hat, e.g. BC Garn Bio Shetland GOTS
• or DK-weight yarn held single for the hat

Yarn estimates:

• hat: (300; 340; 380; 460) m / (330; 370; 420; 500) yds or half the amount in DK-weight yarn
• mitts: main colour: (130; 150) (170; 190; 210) m / (145; 165) (185; 210; 230) yds; contrast colour: (20; 25) (30; 35; 40) m / (22; 28) (32; 38; 44) yds 

Needles and notions needed:

• 3.5 mm (US 4) circular needles, 40 cm / 16” long
• 3.5 mm (US 4) DPNs
• 2 mm (US 0) and 2.5 mm (US 1.5) DPNs (5 needles per set)
• piece of scrap yarn (with smooth surface, e.g. cotton) for provisional cast-on
  
• stitch markers, tapestry needle, crochet hook (optional)

Gauge:

• hat: stockinette: 19 stitches x 31 rounds = 10 x 10 cm / 4 x 4” on 3.5 mm (US 4) needles in the round, blocked
• mitts: stockinette: 28 stitches x 42 rows = 10 x 10 cm / 4 x 4‘’, on 2.5 mm (US 1.5) needles in the round, blocked
